On Thursday evening, April 11, C. S. Lewis scholar, Dr. Michael Ward, will give a lecture on "C. S. Lewis on Reason and Imagination in Religion and Science," in the Fellowship Hall of First Presbyterian Church. Light reception at 6:30pm. Lecture at 7pm. The public is invited to this free lecture. On the Saturday after Easter Sunday (April 6th at 6pm), the Shurinas will host their annual Easter Cocktail Party to celebrate the biggest holiday of the year! The Diocese of Knoxville Office of Vocations and St. Alphonsus Parish are hosting a Vocation Story Night. The evening will include adoration and vocation stories from representatives of various vocations.

The thirteenth anniversary of Sts. Peter and Paul being named and dedicated as a minor basilica will be commemorated with a sung Mass at Noon on Friday, May 3. There is an opportunity for a plenary indulgence for those who visit the Basilica on May 3. Click for more information.

While the priests are in Knoxville for a mandatory meeting with our Bishop-elect Beckman, a deacon will offer a Communion Service at 12pm on Wed., May 8. We will not be able to offer the 11:30am confessions May 8. The 7am Mass on May 8 will be offered as usual.

Our annual May Crowning will be on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 12, between the morning Masses at 10:30am, with a procession, prayers, and music to honor the Blessed Mother. Please bring flowers for the procession. All mothers will receive a special Mother's Day blessing at Masses on May 11 & 12.

Those who have made a consecration to Mary using 33 Days to Morning Glory, True Devotion to Mary, or another Marian Consecration preparation will have the opportunity to make their yearly renewal on Friday, May 17 after the 12pm Mass. On Sunday, May 19, at 10:30 am, the rite for the Blessing and Enrollment in the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be offered in the Basilica. This opportunity is offered near the May 16 feast of St. Simon Stock, who is credited with receiving the scapular from Our Blessed Mother. Participants will need a Brown Scapular and should prepare by reading about the devotion and the Order of Carmel prior to enrolling. Click for more info
