Christopher Nelligan, 19, passed away at home in his sleep on Thursday, March 11, 2021. Christopher was born on January 15, 2002, to James and Denise Nelligan. 22-year-old Humberto Diaz Perez, Basilica parishioner and graduate of Howard High School, passed away on September 6. His family has been active at the Basilica for years. Humberto's funeral Mass will be at the Basilica in Spanish on Saturday, September 11, at 1pm. May his soul rest in peace.

Pray for David Lawrence Rack (11/10/1942 - 8/13/2021)

David Lawrence Rack, a long-time Basilica parishioner who had moved to Alexian Village, died on August 13. David served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam war, then as an FBI agent, and an investigator at Unum. David also sang in the Choo Choo Chorus. The family is having a private funeral and burial, due to COVID-19. 25-year old Abigail Rose Tobin, daughter of Diane & Michael Tobin, passed away Monday, June 28. Please pray especially the Divine Mercy Chaplet for Abigail, her two children, and family. Geiner Alisandro Villatoro Costanza (6/7/91 - 6/20/21)

Basilica parishioner Geiner Alisandro Villatoro Costanza died on June 20, 2021 when his car was hit by a semi-truck on the interstate. The family will receive friends at the Jim Rush Funeral home in Cleveland, TN, on June 25 from 5pm-8pm and June 26, from 12pm-1:30pm, followed by a private service for the family at 2pm. Geiner's body will be sent to Guatemala for burial in his home country. May Geiner's soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

John Lambiase, 1940-2021 - Funeral Mass June 11 at 10:30am

John Lambiase was born on March 24, 1940 and passed away on June 5, 2021. His funeral will be at the Basilica 10:30am on June 12. He was a lifelong Catholic and was a resident at Alexian Village. May John's soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Genevieve Jennings, 1932-2021

Genevieve Lonnie Spann Jennings passed into eternity June 3, 2021. A former schoolteacher, Genevieve was a long-time parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul and is survived by her husband, David Lee Jennings. Public viewing will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at John P. Franklin Funeral Home. Bosco Joseph Paul Cooper, Stillborn April 20, 2021

Bosco Joseph Paul Cooper, son of Kody and Deirdre Cooper, was stillborn April 20, 2021, 4lbs 4oz. He received the baptism of desire by his parents. A service for Bosco was held at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul Saturday, April 24. Dr. Philip Jerald Dugan - Funeral Mass April 21 9am

Dr. Philip Jerald Dugan, 84, former director and founder of the Cleveland and Athens Regional Cancer Centers, the Ocoee Regional Cancer Foundation, longtime resident of Birchwood, TN passed away Friday, April 16, 2021, at home with his family after a courageous 1 year battle with MD Syndrome. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul Wed., April 21, at 9am, followed by burial at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 11am.

Samuel Aníbal Ramírez Aguilar died in car accident 2/22/21

Samuel Aníbal Ramírez Aguilar was born on October 29, 1991, and passed away on February 22, 2021, at the age of 29, in a car accident. Samuel’s funeral Mass in Spanish is being held on March 6 at 1:00 pm at the Basilica. Our Basilica parish community mourns the loss of 13-year old Frieyda Yojana Tomas Morales, who died suddently on Monday of a diabetic coma. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Basilica this Saturday, February 13, 2021, at 11:00 am. We are conducting a comprehensive survey of the parish. This planning study follows an extensive process that helped produce our strategic priorities. Before we make any final decisions regarding proposed plans for our Basilica and our parish, we would like to hear from you regarding our needs and the possibility of conducting a major fundraising effort. Rest in Peace +Fred Viland

Mr. Frederick R. Viland, a long-time parishioner of the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul, passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, at age 78. His love for the Catholic Church and his love for the Basilica kept him strong through his last months of his life. He enjoyed serving on the Parish Pastoral Council under both Msgr. George Schmidt and Fr. David Carter, as well as serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. A private burial has been arranged with his family. Please remember the repose of his soul in your prayers.
