Now that Fr. Patrick Ryan’s remains are entombed at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul, a minimum of $25,000 is needed to bring his cause to Rome, in addition to the expenses already incurred during the exhumation and entombment. As a necessary step in the Cause for Sainthood for Father Patrick Ryan, the remains of Father Ryan will be exhumed beginning July 19 and moved to a new tomb at the basilica on July 31. The exhumation is a necessarily private event. However, all are invited to the July 31 events, including the procession from Mount Olivet to the Basilica, Memorial Mass, blessing of his new tomb, and reception. Happy 9th Anniversary of priestly ordination to Fr. Nick Tran on May 12! Fr. Tran is Priest in Residence at the Basilica of Sts. Parents and other adults who serve in ministries that involve youth are now required to be certified under the “Safe Haven” program, which has replaced the previous VIRTUS Safe Environment program for the Diocese of Knoxville. The registration and training is available online (allow 2 hours).

However, many of our groups have resumed on-campus and others are continuing to meet virtually, outdoors, off-campus, etc.  

The Basilica has recently been asked to help with two programs to help seniors and the disabled in our community. Meals on Wheels delivers hot meals and My Ride Tennessee provides rides for essential trips to seniors and disabled folks. They need adults to deliver the meals and/or give the rides. Flexible shifts are available. Please consider volunteering for these corporal works of mercy, in the spirit of St. Joseph the Worker. Find out more here...
