Our hardworking Basilica sound technician, Mr. Kim Murfin, became extremely sick with COVID-19 and was admitted to the ER on August 26. After being on oxygen for several days, he was moved to Encompass Rehab Center, and on September 14 he was sent home to complete his therapy. He is grateful to have received the Anointing of the Sick and all the prayers. Please also pray that his wife Sheila, who has COPD, will not contract the disease.

Peter and Paul and the former St. Francis parish of Chattanooga, who died on Sept. 1 at the age of 88 following a battle with COVID-19 and other medical problems. David Lawrence Rack, a long-time Basilica parishioner who had moved to Alexian Village, died on August 13. David served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam war, then as an FBI agent, and an investigator at Unum. David also sang in the Choo Choo Chorus. The family is having a private funeral and burial, due to COVID-19. Parishioner Jim Stewart suffered a serious bike accident before Easter that resulted in a head injury and required a hip replacement. He has completed his rehab in Atlanta and is finally back in Chattanooga! 25-year old Abigail Rose Tobin, daughter of Diane & Michael Tobin, passed away Monday, June 28. Please pray especially the Divine Mercy Chaplet for Abigail, her two children, and family. Basilica parishioner Geiner Alisandro Villatoro Costanza died on June 20, 2021 when his car was hit by a semi-truck on the interstate. The family will receive friends at the Jim Rush Funeral home in Cleveland, TN, on June 25 from 5pm-8pm and June 26, from 12pm-1:30pm, followed by a private service for the family at 2pm. Geiner's body will be sent to Guatemala for burial in his home country. May Geiner's soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Kent Dungan has recently learned that he is in full remission from blood cancer! He will be moving to chemotherapy and possibly a clinical trial to keep remission ongoing as with certain blood cancers, there is no real cure, and there is a high risk of fatal infection if he were to fracture a bone. The treatment has been difficult, but Kent and Patti are so grateful that the prognosis is better, and they appreciate your prayers that he will continue to stay in remission and that his bones will be strong and intact.

Bosco Joseph Paul Cooper, son of Kody and Deirdre Cooper, was stillborn April 20, 2021, 4lbs 4oz. He received the baptism of desire by his parents.
