Here are some mental health counselors, programs, and resources that are available in our community. Some are in-person and some are virtual or self-paced programs. Most come with a cost, but some have a sliding scale option. A few programs are completely free. Some offer individual counseling and some offer couples and family counseling. Many of the counselors and programs listed here are not specifically Catholic. However, all the programs listed below include providers who profess many of our Christian values.
Claire Maiona is a counseling intern at Henegar Counseling Center in Chattanooga and is finishing her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Richmont Graduate University. Claire is a practicing Catholic and has been trained in integrating faith and spirituality into counseling sessions for those that desire faith integration. As a counseling intern, Claire is able to provide low-fee counseling at $35 a session or lower depending on financial need. Claire operates from attachment-focused and emotionally-focused approaches and has received extensive training in CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy) interventions. All counseling with Claire is trauma-informed. Claire primarily works with individual adult and adolescent clients ages 12+. Claire can see clients with issues related to anxiety, depression, OCD, life transitions, grief, religious and spiritual issues, relational issues, self-esteem, and more. Jennifer Hanket, Psy.D - Dr. Hanket is a conservative, practicing Catholic who uses her faith to direct her work and relationships with others. She has a private practice in Murfreesboro but also does virtual appointments. She has worked with clients (of all ages) with a wide range of concerns.

Wise Mind Collective - Christian-based counseling for individual adults age 18+, located on Lindsay St. just around the corner from the Basilica. New Beginnings Counseling Center - Serving individuals, couples, and families, all of the counselors at New Beginnings Counseling Center are Christians (currently no Catholics). Located in Hixson next to Northgate Mall.

Roots Counseling Center - Christian-based in-person counseling for individuals age 3 and up, couples, and families, with locations in Red Bank and East Brainerd. Recommended by one of our Catholic parishioners who is a psychologist. (There are no Catholic providers in this practice currently.) A particular referral is Tyler Clemmons, LCSW.

CatholicPsych Institute - provides mentorship services and resources based on the integration of faithful Catholic anthropology with sound psychological science to help people become who God created them to be. The program that allows you to interact with your mentor by voice messages 5 days a week for up to 15 minutes a day. At the time of this writing, the minimum base price is $500/month.

Courage International is a Catholic apostolate that helps men and women who experience same-sex attractions to strive for chastity. Encourage is the counterpart apostolate for family and friends of people who identify as LGBTQ, who are looking for help to keep the faith and keep their family bonds intact.
