We are preparing for an audit of our Safe Environment compliance. All adults age 18 and up must be certified under the Safe Haven program at CMGconnect.org in order to volunteer or work in any capacity within the Diocese of Knoxville. The training takes about 90 minutes, and the training and background check must be renewed every 5 years. Please make sure your certification is current at CMGconnect.org. The Basilica is seeking adults age 18 and up with experience caring for pre-school-age children to attend the nursery on Sundays from 8:45am to 1pm, for $50/Sunday, or as a volunteer for the full shift or half-shift. St. Ambrose Catholic Homeschool Co-op registration will be open for the 2025-2026 school year from March 1 through May 2. We offer Nursery through High School. Jacqueline Mathis, mother of Basilica parishioner Anthony Mathis, passed away on Jan. 27, 2026, following a battle with Stage 4 lung cancer. Visitation will be Fri., Feb. 6 from 3pm-5pm, with a Rosary at 4:30pm, at Advantage Funeral, Franklin-Strickland Chapel, 1724 McCallie Ave. Funeral Mass will be held at the Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul Sat., Feb. 7 at 10:30am, followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery. We ask for your prayers for Ms. Jacqueline's soul.
The men of Sts. Peter & Paul and St. Jude have started an inter-parish Bible study at 6:30pm every Friday (Thursdays during Lent). The group meets at the St. Jude Library, and men from all parishes are invited. We will begin studying the Church Fathers and how we can apply their teachings to modern day. Click for info.
During the month of May, our Community Outreach Ministry is supporting the Catholic Charities Pregnancy Help Center, to honor all mothers. You can help by donating diapers & wipes; by donating financially to the Baby Bottle Drive from May 16th – 24th -- or online; and by volunteering to mentor new moms/dads one hour a week or more.
