Registration is open for our OCIA programs for Becoming Catholic, as well as Religious Education for preK through 12th grade; Youth Group for 6th through 12th grade; and Youth Schola for 2nd grade and up. VOLUNTEERS are needed in these programs in various roles. Click for more info.
Our Basilica Adult Faith Formation ministry offers the Deacon’s Table / All Things Catholic class most every Sunday from 10:15-11:15 in the McConnell Room. The class is currently viewing the 6-week video series, The Hidden King: The Jewish Roots of St. Joseph, by Dr. Brant Pitre. Our next study will be on the Sacraments.

Due to many other things going on, we will not be having a VBS at the Basilica this summer. Joseph Shramko suffered a serious fall on April 8, 2022, at the age of 16 and began a lengthy healing process from several brain injuries. Joseph continued rehab and was able to finish high school and begin college. In March 2019 he was able to move into his own place. The Shramkos thank you for your prayers for Joseph's full functional recovery, especially through the intercession of Fr. Patrick Ryan. Click for updates.
St. Ambrose Catholic Homeschool Co-op registration will be open for the 2025-2026 school year from March 1 through May 2. We offer Nursery through High School. We meet on Fridays, at the Basilica, from 8:30-11:30am, as a supplement to our homeschool curriculums. Informational park days at March 18 and April 15 at Pioneer Frontier Park. The Basilica is seeking adults aged 18 and up with experience caring for pre-school-aged children to attend the nursery on Sundays from 8:45am to 1pm, for $50/Sunday, or as a volunteer for the full shift or half-shift. St. Ambrose Catholic Homeschool Co-op is happy to announce our annual Advent Candle fundraiser. St. Ambrose families will be selling candles after all Masses and before the 1:30 Mass the weekends of November 9/10, 16/17, and 23/24. Candles are $7 for a box of four 12-inch tapers. Our Downtown Youth Ministry for 6th through 12th grade will kick off the year with a night at Coolidge Park on Wednesday, September 18 from 6-8pm! We will also meet Oct. 16, Nov. 13, and Dec. 11. We need to raise $500k this summer for an HVAC system and electrical updates to support our religious education programs. We will conduct a pledge drive at Mass on June 8 & 9. The National Eucharistic Pilgrimage will travel the country May 17 - July 16, 2024, culminating at the Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis. The Juan Diego route of the pilgrimage will stop at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul on Monday, June 24. At the Basilica, we will have a Tour led by Fr. Carter at 10:15am; a Holy Hour with Midday Prayer and reflections from the perpetual pilgrims from 11-11:50am, followed by Mass at 12pm. At 7:30pm there will be a Eucharistic procession starting at the Basilica and processing to the UTC Catholic Center for Benediction, followed by music and fellowship at the UTC Catholic Center until 10pm. The American Heritage Girls Catholic Troop 0629 is having an open house June 27 and July 11, 2024 from 6:40-7:30pm, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in the small hall. All parents of girls between 5-18 are welcome to attend and get info about the troop.
The Diocese of Knoxville is sponsoring two retreats for Middle Schoolers this summer, both held at Adventure Ocoee Retreat Center: REACH God Camp for rising 7th & 8th graders will be June 21 7pm -June 24 5pm ($245). Our Lorelei’s Library in the hallway next to the Basilica is available for every parishioner to check out a single book at a time for up to 3 weeks. We have a few friendly requests: PARENTS, please write in your own name and phone number LEGIBLY on the checkout card so that we can follow up with you if needed. Here is an Eight Day Home Service for Advent, compiled by Basilica parishioner Diane Tobin, to celebrate the eight days before Christmas that celebrate the titles of Jesus as prophesied of old. It follows the liturgical cycle of the “O Antiphons” Fr. Carter recommends this service as a home devotion in the final week of Advent.
