The Basilica is collecting SPECIFIC items in August for the needy who use the services of the CHATT Foundation: Sugar, canned veggies, coffee creamer, kids' snacks, disposable dishes and napkins, paper towels, cleaning supplies, deodorant, laundry detergent, trash bags, ponchos, socks, underwear, blankets, backpacks/bags, tarps, and strollers. Drop off donations in the Basilica vestibule by August 31.

The Basilica partners with St. Vincent de Paul Society at Our Lady of Perpetual Help by providing monetary support and food drives. Fr. Carter is now calling on Basilica parishioners to join this ministry more actively by volunteering. Our Basilica Adult Faith Formation ministry offers the Deacon’s Table / All Things Catholic class most every Sunday from 10:15-11:15 in the McConnell Room. The class is currently viewing the 6-week video series, The Hidden King: The Jewish Roots of St. Joseph, by Dr. Brant Pitre. Our next study will be on the Sacraments.

The Seven Sisters Apostolate is a call to strengthen the Church by ensuring that a Holy Hour is prayed each day of the week for the sole intention of a specific priest or bishop—a “holy wasting” (cf. Mt. 26:10) or lavishing of prayer for his deeper conformity to Christ. We are looking for more women to join us to cover all our priests in prayer. The Diocese of Knoxville has sent Seminarian Eli Holt to the Basilica this summer. He will be serving at Mass and participating in our activities. Please welcome Eli when you see him, and pray for his vocation. Click to read his vocation story.

Knights of Columbus Council 610 is offering a special Father's Day gift of one year of free membership. You can claim this free gift or give it to a loved one. You may also join other Knights and their families at the Basilica Sun., June 15 at 10:30am for a prayer of consecration to the Holy Family.

Basilica parishioner Nancy Fisher passed away on Memorial Day, May 26, 2025. Nancy was an active leader in our Forever Young Catholics ministry, and a past co-founding member of the Basilica's Gloria Dei Schola. Please pray for Nancy's husband Dan and the Fisher family during this difficult time.

Set your hearts ablaze this August! Something BIG is happening in Chattanooga! "Fanning the Flame" is a deanery-wide, multi-weekend event inspired by the 2024 National Eucharistic Congress. Held at St. Jude Church Aug. 1 & 2, Aug. 9, and Aug. 17. Click for details and register for individual weekends or all three!

Our parish is on a journey to know, love, and serve Christ as a parish community. We are asking EVERY INDIVIDUAL PARISHIONER age 18 and up to take the Basilica's Disciple Maker Index Survey HERE. The survey is anonymous and takes only 15 minutes or so. Your input helps strengthen our parish. Results help leadership prepare for the future. A report of the findings will be shared after the results are compiled.

During early March 2025, severe storms caused Brandon & Linsey Dean's basement retaining wall to give way. The home has been braced up but could still collapse. It will cost $50k to repair. Insurance is refusing to pay anything. Our parishioner Courtney Bolton has organized a GoFundMe to give to this beautiful family of 8 in any way you can! Any amount and prayers are needed.

Women's Lenten Retreat with Sarah Hart at St. Therese of Lisieux, Cleveland, Saturday, March 22, 2025, 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Cost: $20, includes continental breakfast after Mass and lunch. Sarah Hart is a Catholic singer, songwriter, musician, and retreat speaker.

The Basilica is seeking adults aged 18 and up with experience caring for pre-school-aged children to attend the nursery on Sundays from 8:45am to 1pm, for $50/Sunday, or as a volunteer for the full shift or half-shift. The traditional Ember Days of fasting for Advent are Wed., Fri., and Sat., Dec. 18, 20, and 21. While a fast is not obligatory, it is a worthy traditional spiritual practice to fast or abstain in some way on one or more of these days.

Please donate new or barely worn coats, scarves, gloves, and socks appropriate for children ages infant to 18 years in the bin marked “Coats for Kids” the Basilica’s vestibule. Items will be collected through Thanksgiving weekend, December 1, and distributed to children in our parish Hispanic Ministry & the Chambliss Center for Children.
