The men of Sts. Peter & Paul and St. Jude have started an inter-parish Bible study at 6:30pm every Friday (Thursdays during Lent). The group meets at the St. Jude Library, and men from all parishes are invited. We will begin studying the Church Fathers and how we can apply their teachings to modern day. Click for info.

The traditional Ember Days of fasting for Advent are Wed., Fri., and Sat., Dec. 17, 19, and 20. While a fast is not obligatory, it is a worthy traditional spiritual practice to fast or abstain in some way on one or more of these days.
From Dec. 15 - 21, we will be collecting items in the vestibule that are needed by the CHATT Foundation to serve people experiencing homelessness in the Chattanooga area. CHATT Foundation has a specific list of needs for December. Click to see the list.
ABIDE Respite Ministry, located at around the corner at First-Centenary United Methodist Church. ABIDE seeks to care for and support persons with early to moderate memory issues and their caregivers. Volunteers are able to provide community, socialization, and love through activities and companionship with participants. They also give respite to caregivers, knowing their loved ones are being loved and cared for in a safe environment. Click to find out more.

The Basilica is collecting SPECIFIC items in August for the needy who use the services of the CHATT Foundation: Sugar, canned veggies, coffee creamer, kids' snacks, disposable dishes and napkins, paper towels, cleaning supplies, deodorant, laundry detergent, trash bags, ponchos, socks, underwear, blankets, backpacks/bags, tarps, and strollers. Drop off donations in the Basilica vestibule by August 31.
The Basilica partners with St. Vincent de Paul Society at Our Lady of Perpetual Help by providing monetary support and food drives. Fr. Carter is now calling on Basilica parishioners to join this ministry more actively by volunteering. Our Basilica Adult Faith Formation ministry offers the Deacon’s Table / All Things Catholic class most every Sunday from 10:15-11:15 in the McConnell Room. The class is currently viewing the 6-week video series, The Hidden King: The Jewish Roots of St. Joseph, by Dr. Brant Pitre. Our next study will be on the Sacraments.
The Seven Sisters Apostolate is a call to strengthen the Church by ensuring that a Holy Hour is prayed each day of the week for the sole intention of a specific priest or bishop—a “holy wasting” (cf. Mt. 26:10) or lavishing of prayer for his deeper conformity to Christ. We are looking for more women to join us to cover all our priests in prayer.
